New traffic lights on the final RAB forced a change of course at the last minute, with the final decision being that we would turn left at the RAB instead of keeping right on the A24 to the usual finish. Frank was determined to retain the distance and painstakingly measured the correct distance from the RAB in the opposite direction. This made a good finish point with a convenient car park, but I think we were all agreed that the event needs to finish short of the RAB in the future.
Frank had organised the marshals to make sure that we went the right way at the RAB, but it turned out that (most of) the riders knew where they were supposed to be going better than the marshals. Unfortunately it was the first two to arrive - Brian and Chrystal - who followed the marshalling directions to continue straight-on on the A27, rather than left into the minor road that leads to the Golf Club.
Grant was unluucky to break his chain at Leatherhead, but having rejoined it he continued grimly on out the back of the field.
Once again we all enjoyed a good breakfast at the cafe on the front.

The jobs that go with the event are increasing: as well as the usual intermediate timekeeping this year we had traffic counts to be done & all the event warning signs to place out and then collect in. For undertaking these tasks a special thanks to: Andy Pearce, Frank P, Ron & Doreen, Judy, Dave, Iain & Carolyn, Fran P and Pete M.
