The 2003 ECCA 12 hour seemed to be a harder day than the same event the previous year. The wind seemed stronger and it was another hot day, though perhaps not hotter than last year, but we were all spared the rain that lashed down at times last year.
I think both our riders were slightly disappointed, Joe that he didn't go much further than last year for a lot more effort & Ann that she didn't go as far as last year.
Both looked to be going reasonably well all day, and as the split times show, Ann only just won the Ladies prize, and would have been unlikely to if Angela Nainby had not retired with back trouble.
But of course that is the thing about a 12 hour, you don't just have to go fast, you need to last all day! |
