As last year, the morning was a windy one. Dry and bright but not cold (becoming an almost perfect day later) actual racing conditions were not unpleasant, but the wind made it hard going up to the Crawley turn, and then really hard going along the Southwater bypass to the Southern turn. The fast finish was not enough to make up for the time lost earlier.
Joe had a deserved win, with an excellent time on the tough morning. Mark had his crank come loose within yards of starting, and Simon punctured his front wheel on the ride to the start: his ride was salvaged by another rider kindly lending him a spare front wheel.
